Tanning Dos and Dont’s
Pre-Tan: What To Do
- Exfoliate, shave, wax anything at least 24 hours before your tan appointment.
- Pedicures should be done at least 24 hours before your appointment or 7-10 days after your appointment.
- The day of your spray tan, rinse in the shower with water only.
- Arrive wearing or bring loose, dark clothing that won't rub or dig into your skin.
- If it's raining, please cover all body parts, including feet, and bring an umbrella. *We retail umbrellas if you need one!
- Be mindful of tan lines you would/wouldn't want. Be prepared to go naked, wear your own underwear or swimsuit, or the disposable thong we provide. Anything you leave on will leave a line where it is placed and there's no going back once we start!
- If you are nursing, please bring a strapless bra that clasps in the back so we can cover and avoid spraying that area. Rapid rinse/express tans are encouraged for nursing moms. It's also highly recommended to wear long sleeves post-tan to ensure you don't transfer color while holding your little one.
Pre-Tan: What NOT To Do:
- Do not apply body lotion the day of your tan. Light face lotion is approved, but no sunscreen.
- Do not use a bar of soap or any body wash in the shower the day of your tan.
- If you arrive and are sweating, please let us know and we will make sure to provide you with materials to dry off.
- If you are actively sunburned and/or peeling, please cancel your appointment.
- Schedule waxing for larger body parts at least 24 hours in advance. Avoid waxing larger body parts the same day of your tan. Facial waxing day of is no problem.
- If you have tinted your brows within 24 hours of your appointment, please let us know so we can cover them with Vaseline to avoid oxidation. Wait 48 hours to tint brows after your tan appointment.
- If you have an appointment for brow lamination, please make sure it is 48 hours before or after your spray tan.
- Do not use Retinol or Retin-A products on your face, neck, or chest at least 48 hours before your appointment.
Post-Tan: What To Do:
- Keep your skin dry until your designated rinse time. Be careful of splashing water when washing your hands.
- At your designated rinse time, use luke-warm water to rinse. Hot water will open your pores and dry out your skin, causing your tan to prematurely fade. After your initial shower, you can use approved, clean body washes to ensure longevity. If you need one, we carry them!
- Apply an approved, tan-safe moisturizer on your body 1-2x/day moving forward. If you need one, we carry them! If you did a rapid rinse/express tan, please avoid using body lotions until after your second shower.
- Pat dry with your towel after showering.
- Keep yourself hydrated with water as this helps keep your skin hydrated from the inside out.
Post-Tan: What NOT To Do:
- Avoid waxing, pedicures, massages, band-aids, and any other activity or item that would prematurely take the tan off.
- Avoid loofahs, scrubs, and exfoliants for at least 7 days post-tan Avoid sunscreens that are labeled "sport" or anti-sweat. We sell Vacation sunscreen that won't strip your tan.
- Avoid extreme workouts and sweating, as this will fade your tan prematurely.
- Avoid rubbing anything against your bare skin until after your initial rinse. Be mindful of seatbelts, bags, and purses.
- You may continue to use these as long as you know they may prematurely fade your face tan: Retinols, Vitamin C serums, acids, exfoliating cleansers, or anything else that turns your skin cells over
